“My mother, father and sister are dentists and my grandmother was a nurse-midwife in Bulgaria. But what really got me interested in medicine was losing my mother to cancer when I was only 18. I became interested in sleep medicine because sleep is a critical yet often overlooked component of good health. Once I fix someone’s sleep problem, I am better able to fix their other health problems.”
