Improving your life... by improving your sleep.
Sleep disorders may be among the most misdiagnosed conditions in medicine. Over 40 million Americans suffer with chronic sleep difficulties. Many patients suffering from sleep disorders are told that their symptoms are the result of something else. Fortunately, more and more physicians are learning to recognize the wide-ranging effects sleep problems can have on their patients.
Why so many patients choose Alamo Sleep Disorders Center.
We have a facility accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM). We are the only facility in our community with doctors in three different medical specialties who are all board-certified in sleep medicine. Our doctors are board-certified in neurology, clinical neurophysiology, clinical psychology and pulmonology.
We know how to make your life better. Alamo Sleep Disorders Center has improved many people’s lives by treating the sleep disorders that affect intimacy and relationships. We have also made their world safer by reducing their potential for auto and workplace accidents.
Alamo Sleep Disorders Center has made them more productive by keeping their attention and energy levels high throughout the day. We have restored hope for many people whose sleep disorders have robbed them of their usually optimistic outlook on life.
Complete sleep care, from A to ZZZZ.
Alamo Sleep Disorders Center can help you overcome any one of the 80 sleep disorders you may face. We offer complete care for the following:
- Sleep apnea – A condition that makes you stop breathing during sleep. Sleep apnea is typically caused by an obstruction or blockage in the upper airway, either in the nasal passages or oral airway.
Symptoms you should look for include snoring, choking, gasping or pauses in breathing during sleep. Sleep apnea can cause high blood pressure, and people with sleep apnea have higher rates of heart attack, stroke and diabetes.
- Insomnia – If you have trouble falling asleep or remaining asleep during the night, wake up too early in the morning or still feel tired after a full night’s sleep, you probably suffer from insomnia. At Alamo Sleep Disorders Center, we can determine if your insomnia is associated with other treatable medical conditions, such as chronic pain or depression, and treat it accordingly.
- Restless legs syndrome (RLS)/Periodic limb movement disorder (PLMD) – RLS involves repetitive movement of the legs or arms to relieve an uncomfortable sensation described as a “creepy-crawly” feeling. Besides being a nuisance, RLS can cause insomnia. In PLMD, similar limb movements occur every 20 to 40 seconds during sleep, resulting in poor sleep quality.
- Other disorders – Alamo Sleep Disorders Center can also treat many other sleep disorders, including snoring, narcolepsy, cataplexy, hypersomnia, sleepwalking, night-terrors, tremors, REM sleep behavior disorder, rhythmic movement disorder, delayed sleep phase syndrome and advanced sleep phase syndrome.
At Alamo Sleep Disorders Center, you’ll find advanced, state-of-the-art equipment and techniques to diagnose and treat your problem. These include polysomnography, multiple sleep latency testing (MSLT) and continuous positive airway pressure therapy (CPAP) studies.
